Stripes...

If you want to paint stripes on, be sure to shoot a little clear coat on the
joint between the tape and the stripe target area BEFORE you paint the
stripe.  Let it dry THEN shoot the color.

IF anything is going to seep under the tape (and it will), let it be clear,
rather than color.  Then, when you remove the tape, your color line should
be fairly clean.
