I have heard that some Roadsters will be coming to the Vegas Z
Convention. I would like very much to know who is planning on attending
and who is considering it. I would really like to get a good turnout of
Roadsters and other classic Datsuns at the event if possible. Although
Les and I went to Solvang in our Z's, we are both really Datsun
enthusiasts rather than Roadster, Z, or 510 fans (okay so Les started
with Roadsters and still has a bit of a bias for them), and we really
want to see the event be the springboard for our all Datsun event idea.
We also want to show the Z community that there are other classic
Datsuns out there that are worthy of attention, and that many of them
are world-class cars. The Roadsters need to be a strong part of this
especially, since not only were they the spiritual predecessor of the Z,
being Datsun's sports car of the day, but they also share the same name
with the Z's. All the Roadsters and Z are Fairladys, and as such are
really in a sense all parts of the same model line.
I will be going down to CDM and then heading out to Vegas from there
with Les. I thought we might try to get a caravan together of SoCal
Datsuns to make the trip.
On another subject. We want to put together a "Team Datsun" for next
year's Iron Bottom. If anyone is interested please let Les or I know.
We'd like to get between 5 and 10 cars on the team. The event is in
Feb. and will be a 2 day event. There are no entry fees and no costs
other than gas, food, and lodgings.
