tires

I've probably been addled by paint stripper fumes, but could someone tell me
the widest tire that will go on a stock rim in a stock fender well in a 67
1600 without making expensive noises when I go around a corner? No racing,
just cruising. Brand names are not as important as those goofy numbers so I
won't get that 'look' from the tire guy when I go shopping.
