If you look through the hole in the cover, down to the end of the oil pump
you will see a notch that is offset from center. This offset developes a
smaller and a larger semi circle. The notch should be at 11:30 when the
smaller semi circle is on the radiator side and the larger circle is on the
trany side.
The #1 can be found on the outside of the cap indicated by a raised line that
extends down to the edge that mates to the distributor. It is next to the #1
wire terminal on the cap.
