Hi All,
No comment from anyone else yet about the 50th
Celebration? Well, I'll get teh ball rolling... What a
spectacular time my wife and I had at the 50 years of
the Seven celebration! My first trip to UK -- 2 days
in London and 2 glorious Lotus Seven filled days at
Norfolk and Hethel!
Many, many thanks again to Steve Winterberg who set me
free in his seriously upgraded S3 Lotus Seven S3 --
the grin is still stuck to my face! To even imagine a
sprint up and down Potash Lane in front of the Lotus
Works in such a machine was way above my highest
expectations for the trip!
And then there were the people! You guys that I've
chatted with for so many years -- finally meeting you
in person was definitely the highlight of my 10 years
of Lotus Seven ownership. To know that so many Lotus
Seven owners are such friendly, welcoming, generous
and all around good guys is just well, heartwarming...
sorry about the emotion, but it was a very, very nice
time. Thank you all!
Anyway, I've some 400 photos to sift through, and
about a dozen more pages to write about the visit, and
guess what? It'll all turn up on SimpleSevens so that
any of you who were unable to be there can have a
really good taste of what it was like to visit England
for the first time, to see so many Lotus Sevens and
their owners (okay, and Caterhams too -- we're talking
like over 500 of the darn things!!!) All that PLUS
your very own verbal tour of the Lotus Factory --
Elise, Europa and the new 'Two Eleven'!!! (no factory
photos, but I've got pretty good recall :-)
Look for it all sometime late next month :-)
Cheers,
John D.
