Now that the race season is winding down, we can do more than bench race this
winter. There is a new computer game out called Grand Prix Legends by
Sierra/Papyrus (the same company that made NASCAR Racing 2 and Indy Car Racing
II). The game is set during the 1967Grand Prix season (last one before the
cars became rolling billboards) You race against Brabham, Clark, Gurney and
all the rest who ran the 1967 season. You are given a choice of any car used
in 1967 including the Lotus 49, the Gurney Eagle, the Repco-Brabham and the
Ferrari 312. All the tracks are there -- The Glen, Mosport, Spa, Monaco and
even the entire 14 miles of the Nurburgring. The graphics are stunning if you
have a powerful computer and the vehicle dynamics are realistic. The game is
available at CompUSA for $45. Someone else said it was at Babbages for $40.
Maybe they will do 1950s sportsracers next. Think of Testa Rosas at Sebring
and D-Types at LeMans!
