British torque measurement?

One of our local autocrossers here in Minnesota USA has a question:
==============
My wife got me a copy of a UK Mini magazine called "GoMini". In the back,
they list all the stats of the new Mini.

For the Cooper, they list it as 115 HP, which is the same as our US version
is rated. But for torque, they list 150 ft*lbs ... Which, if they're
measuring the same way we do, is insanely optimistic - probably more than
30 ft*lbs too high. So, do they have a different way of looking at torque
output or something? Or are they just plain crazy? Because that little
motor is not making nearly that much torque. I don't even think the Cooper
S makes that much torque.
