Hi experts (creep, creep :-)),
I'm doing an engine swap on my Westfield at the mo, and
I have to make a provision for a fan switch somewhere in
the cooling system. The switch used to be located in the
thermostat housing on the old engine. The obvious place
to locate the switch now is on the radiator. My question
is, should the switch be located at the top or bottom of
the radiator? I'm inclined to position it at the bottom
because the switch is rated at 90C which is also the engine
running temp, meaning the fan will be on all the time if the
switch were at the top. If the switch is at the bottom, it
should allow the system to run happily at 90. BUT, when the
temp at the bottom of the rad reaches 90, what sort of temp
will be in the head and elsewhere in the system? Will it boil
over?
