Thanks to those who replied and explained how the $695 B would become a
$5000 B in a trice. I went to see it; I think $5000 is conservative. It
probably was a genuine 32K mile car. It even had the air pump and
hardware on it still. But those were sure some hard 32K miles. The best
part was that the orinal color was BRG. There were still remnants of the
paint. It would take a new shell, new wire wheels, new bumpers, new chrome
everywhere, new darn near everything. Somebody took a rough but
restorable low mileage car and let it sit in a field for 7 or 8 years.
Now, it wouldn't make a very good donor for a new shell because so much
would need replacing. Plus heaven knows what the engine and trans would
be like. If I were going to reshell one, I guess I'd rather have a 132K
mile donor car that has been run regularly and received some maintenance.
I hope someone restores this one, but I'd as soon it not be me.
I pass, unless somebody can convince me that I should drag this puppy home.
