The damn things are filled with ether to activate the pressure detector on the
other end from the bulb so DIY must be like Baron Von Frankensteins Lab! I 
swallowed my pride and found a repro one that used electric instead of 
anaesthetic! Demon Tweaks in the UK do repro "old Style" gauges...maybe of 
use?
