Original tires on that vintage of Spitfire were 155SR13, usually Dunlop SP
*something or other*, but often Goodyears appeared as an alternative.
Quite honestly, unless you're looking to maintain an absolutely-as-
originally-equipped car for Concours purposes, don't bother trying to
replace your tires with original, which I suspect you won't easily find
anyway.
Within reason, almost any decent brand/model of 175/70SR13 will give you a
wider
tire with almost no difference in speedo readings and no
clearance problems. And yes, assuming you still have the original
slotted(?) steel 4.5 inch wheels, no problem there either. 175/70 is
still a very common size and should be easy to find.
