Basically, the coated metal welded as if the metal were dirty or rusty
(not too surprising), and it was hard to get a clean weld. I cannot
check, because I chucked the can in disgust, but I suspect weld-through
coatings are intended more for spot welding than for mig welding.
I think so, too. I've not had any trouble at all with using this stuff on
sections which were resistance spot-welded into place.
I don't recall if the coating was a zinc-rich coat or not, but it is
definitely not good to breath zinc fumes.
"Don't breathe the fumes" is good in theory, but hard in practice. Get
a fume respirator. They're not anywhere as expensive as a new brain,
and there are versions that fit under a welding helmet OK. (Kinda
uncomfy welding outside in the summer with long sleeves, a helmet, and
a respirator, but as a side benefit everyone in the neighborhood
-knows- you're weird..)
