First of today, there was someone asking about OE (Original Equipment
that is) tops. Well, AMCO was bought out by another group, called
something like BEE-AT. So you get the same tops, same fit but it will
have the new name on the corner of the rear window.

As for the swanky cloth tops the probelm is not MOSS. They are doing you
a favour really. The bloody tops don't fit and they could have sold them
anyway and left people with a problem. Luckily a number of fitting shops
complained early on and MOSS paused.

Vic Brit is selling off some of these on a CWE (Cease when exhausted -
love that, sounds like a honey moon rather than old stock) sale flyer.

As for the vynil tops it really doesn't matter where you buy them because
they all deal with the same supplier. (UNLESS you go for some silly $99.00
special in which case you'll get what you paid for)

Fitting these tops someone said that "Tight is right". Well, if you live
where it gets cold don't go too tight. One friend of mine had a top that
was a real finger nail buster in July when it would give a bit. He put
the top up and left it in storage over the winter. Come January he when
to check on it and the windshield was broken with the pillars pulled back
a half inch. (THis was an MGA) My own tonneau on the TR3A tore a Pull-
the Dot right out of the cloth two winters ago.

Um, oh yes, clutch rebuilds. I've never understood this term . You can't
rebuild the throw out or the plate. So that left only the 250.00 finger
and/or diaphram unit. Sure, they are pretty solid old things but the
springs go, as do the fingers. If you're paying to have the work done it
will be cheaper to replace all three parts. It's a long job even if you
do it yourself and the idea of being stranded by some little widget and
having to get a tow home to do the whole job over is just too much for me !

That's all I can remember from my reading. I'm still trying to find some
good colour wiring shots of TR3As for Terri Ann and she's right - they
are hard to find!
