Awhile back, I was asking around trying to figure out a way to get
a spitfire 1500 OD box into a midget 1500. The answer then was, "it
can't be done". But, in the latest Classic and Sports cars, there is an
article on doing this swap. A company is making a kit that replaces the
gearbox mount and then shows where to bang out the trans tunnel. I
don't have the specifics in front of me, but it looks pretty good. The
author indicates that it take s~ 700 rpm off the tach at 75mph.
