Milton makes a compresion tester which uses an industrial type
quick disconnect fitting at the pressure guage. If your compressor
uses this type of fitting (mine does) you can use the hose and
spark plug adaptor part of this tester as a ready made primitive
leakdown tester. Kills two birds with one stone.

Also, one main disadvantage of 120 vac welders is the large
amount of current required to run them (2X as much as 240 vac
equipment, now imagine that). A 100 amp welder consumes say,
3000 watts at the plug which translates into about 25 amps.
This requires a higher capacity circuit than you usually find
in your home (120 vac). If you need to install a special
circuit anyway you would probably be better off installing
a 240 vac one for your welder.
