Funny you should mention this....I have seen the car.  Greg Timkin
(a Seattle resident) started this project when he lived in Chicago
with partial funding from a close friend of mine.  He used a small
bore A series block so as not to screw up a good 1275 block.  It
just happened to work out to around 1100cc after all the
modifications.  The BMW motorcycle head used was the 8 valve head
becuase it was available inexpensively at the time and the 16 valve
head was sort of new at the time. It used 4 motorcycle carbs.

He drove the car from Seattle to Chicago for the Mini Meet in
Chicago a few years ago.  At the time it needed all the cosmetic
stuff done.  He made the trip with a few teeting problems.

It looks quite strange to see that head under a mini bonnet....also
sounds strange...pretty quiet compared to the standard motor.  It
seemed to run pretty strong, but the car had stock skinny tires and
unmodified suspension.

He and my friend started the project before KAD came out with their
16 valve A series conversion...which sort of made their project
moot. The KAD is all sorted with options of carbs or fuel
injection...it just costs a bunch of money.  But had the KAD head
been available, it would have cost no more than Greg and Jim spent
on the BMW conversion.
