Two weekends ago I traveled to Albuquerque on business, but had Saturday
evening free. John Sanders (sanders@hydra.unm.edu) agreed to meet me and
give a tour of his stable, even though he had just moved into a new house
and had been painting all day. He picked me up in the silver 'B. I should
have known by the air dam and the raucous exhaust note that This Was Not
Your Father's MGB. Even as a Triumph aficianado I know that stock MGBs
don't bury you in the seat-back when the light goes green. After a
refreshing ride in and around Albuquerque in beautiful cool, dry weather,
we tooled up to his house in the hills.
A peek under the hood confirmed the mods, the obvious ones being the
ignition setup, Webers (on the "wrong" side due to the rad head), triple
master cylinders, etc. Visible through the wire wheels are the larger
disks from the V8, and uprated calipers. John will have to tell you about
the rest.
His other 'B (the red one) was there, too. If I remember correctly this is
the one that he's had for 18 years --- and was his first car! (And I've
often pined that I wish I still had MY first car - '68 GT6.) Finally,
someone who had the presence of mind to keep that first one. Good move,
John.
His wife had sustenance and libation prepared for us, and we sat out among
the flowers in the back yard and watched the sun go down over Albuquerque
below. The three of us had enough in common that the talk ranged from
research to home-ownership to (of course) british cars.
What a great evening!; the real downside of all this was that I had to spend
the next several days in meetings. These would not have been nearly so
soporific were I not thinking how much better Saturday night was than
listening to otherwise interesting presentations.
OK, one more face to connect to a name on the brit-car list, another notch.

Subject: Victor Car Show, NY Finger Lakes Area
Sorry about the East Coast only bandwidth-
Sunday, June 6, 10 AM-5 PM Victor High School, Victor NY.
Victor Car Show- Sponsored by the WNY MG Car Club and the Victor Lyons Club
$15 per show car at the gate (includes admission for 2), field closes at
noon. (and a lot of cars seem to start leaving after 3)
This is a large car show, with something over a thousand cars, mostly
sports cars, with many antique, custom, and muscle cars as well. Many
LBC's! Cars in all conditions are welcome on the show field, whether you
want them judged or not. (Fire extinguisher required to be judged). There
is a for sale corral, and a medium sized flea market.

Tilly and I will be going, but we're not sure which car yet- If we get it
on the road this week, it may be her Teal Blue '74 MGB GT, or we may drag
my Red '34 MG PA up.
It appears that we're finally getting enough Western/Central New York
SOL'ers to attempt an SOL get-together at the show! Al Costich of
Rochester who is in charge of the vendor stuff for the show will have his
TR4, and it looks like Dan Golder will be there too. Selvarajah? Mark(s)?
Who else?
For who ever will be there:
1) Print off a copy of the SOL identifier PS file off the SOL server,
to put on your car, so we know which it is. (I'll print some extras)
2) Drop me E-Mail, with a suggested meeting time and place.
How about 1:00? At our car?
