I'll be picking up oxygen and acetylene cylinders from a local welding
supply in the morning. After suggestions from this list (thanks), I
checked out the options, and had to make a decision about buying vs.
renting. The vendor that gave the best rates offered the following: buy
the oxygen and acetylene bottles (full) outright at $205 and $160 each;
subsequent fillings cost $14.85 and $25.75 (which would be few and far
between for me.); OR rent the two bottles for a total of $80/yr. I'd have
to rent for >4 years before I get to the cost of buying outright, and I'm
not sure that I'm even going to keep this job for more than that. And
since I know that no household moving company is going to let me put
pressurized gas bottles in with my household stuff, I'll just rent for now.
Anyway, my restoration budget can handle $80 right now a lot easier than
$365.

I hope to get the cylinder clamps mounted to the garage wall tomorrow so
that I can start with some serious heating this weekend. I know it sounds
weird, but I've been offered a "free day" to work on the car on Sunday as a
Mother's Day gift FROM my wife TO her mother. (!!??!!) Don't ask. :-O
