WRT $6-10K to strip, straighten, and paint an XKE... my looooong term
Project 'Cuda (perhaps going to rival Roland's snake! :-) was taken
down to bare metal and back. This was on the Right Coast, where everything
is cheaper, it's American Iron and therefore probably less pricey, and
was done as a 'background' job over about 18 months (better his garage than
mine!). There was some rust, but except for two spots was fixed with
factory-made panels, thereby easing the cost. Paint was a clear-coated
metallic, actually Rolls-Royce metallic dark-blue, which one should see
to believe.

I stripped all the trim, and will replace all of it. The job cost $4500.
The car might be worth $8K when it's done. While it's still a large
chunk of change, $8K to paint a Jag that'll be worth $25-40K when it's
done doesn't seem so bad...
