1) if you have a switch overheating, or device getting too low a voltage,
contacts may be at fault (Open/poor contace=Less current). If you have
wires overheating, it means you have a SHORT down stream somewhere.
(more current) You may have a problem in a bulb, or the lighting harness,
or even a wire touching a switch, but something is drawing too much
current. (This can also make a switch overheat)
Try not to confuse open circuits with short circuits.

2) You should be able to find an auto parts, or science supply store
that has a full selection of O-rings, just pick through and find the
correct diameter and thickness ring.
