Further to the discussion on brake/clutch fluids, I saved Roger Garnett's
excellent list of appropriate fluids for your LBCs for my future reference.
If Roger doesn't mind, I'll reprint the DOT[345] part here.
Reprinted without permission:
Roger says:
RG> {NOTE: as always, check the specs for your car!}
RG>
RG> Brake and Clutch
RG> DOT4 (DOT4 should be flushed and replaced at 2-3 yr intervals)
RG> -Castrol LMA -Low Moisture Absorbant, easy on seals
RG> -Girling
RG> DOT5 (Silicone) Doesn't absorb water, or remove paint.
RG> Can be a bit harder to get the air out, and may
RG> be more prone to boiling in heavy braking usage.
RG> Fantastic for long term storage -Good for 5+++ years.
RG> (Do not mix DOT4 and DOT5. Do not use DOT3 -it WILL rot your seals.)
Cheers!
