Hi Scott. Nice road trip. I live 3.5 miles from my work and
wish daily that it was 35 miles! How's that for a turn-around!
The XJ-S is just starting to warm up as I reach the research
center - double bummer.

I wonder if the oil consumption on your outgoing leg was
primarily at the begining of your trip. That is, not linearly
consumed over the 7 hours. Perhaps we need to know more about
how Jag seals work (or don't work). Additionally, was the
oil leaked or burned???

My thoughts are serious because my XJ-S uses a bit of oil.
On cold mornings after the car has set unstarted for a few days
it produces a puff of oily smoke when started. It also sometimes
smells of burning oil when I shut it off. You know, like a
small leak dripping onto the exhaust or something.

Let me know your thoughts...

Rick
