On the other hand, (for those who recognize him) John Muir
(of Muir Publications) says that he recommends always replacing
points and condenser as a pair, "because they seem to get to
like working together, and get upset when broken up". He goes
on to explain that he has no rational explanation for this effect
which he has observed over many years of car work.
