My new Holley 80457S (4 Barrel) arrived the last night and Ive got some
questions you all might be able to help out with (especially you George
Curley since you have one of these). The original Motorcraft carburetor
that sits on the AMC engine, sits on top of a ported 3/8 thick gasket that
fits into a ported, plastic spacer that sits on top of the ported AMC
manifold. The ports on the spacer actually have little collars that fit
down into the ports in the intake manifold. The new Holley however, has a
5/16 thick, open, not ported, gasket that will not fit into the spacer and
even if it did would not be thick enough to draw the carburetor down to a
good seal (1/16 shy).

Question one: Is the spacer important?? I do know that a fellow who has a
performance shop told me that he could boots the HP and fuel economy of my
04 Jeep Wrangler by installing a spacer under the throttle body and changing
to a K&N air filter. So maybe it is important???

Question two: What about the fact that everything was ported?? Is the open
style gasket going to make any difference with the ported intake manifold??

I have been trying to get through to Holley's tech help line with no luck

Thanks a lot
