Its an AMC 20 rear, I believe AKA Dana 20.
It is common fare in jeeps and AMC vehicles, AMX, Javelin, Matador, and
other AMC V-8 equipped cars.
Yes you can remove the rear cover with the gas tank in place, BTDT. Its the
easiest way to replace the fluid.
I have seen chrome 7 replacement covers on Ebay in the past if you need one
