Rick, I always install a filter/drier and a lubricator in my systems and don't
have any problems. I use the mini units that are available through Grainger
Supplies. I mount them in the solenoid compartment and plumb them in just
before the solenoids. Put the line from the tank into the drier to remove
moisture and crud. Then into the lubricator. I also mount an air gauge in
between them so I can monitor the system occasionally for air loss. I have
never used anti- freeze in the system. If you drive the car in cold weather
you might put some alcohol in to keep the ice out. That's what we use in the
air brakes on trucks. For lubrication I use air tool oil. This seems to have
worked the best for me over the years. It keeps the seals soft and keeps
corrosion to a minimum. If you get the right drier and lubricator you'll be
able to remove the cups from them occasionally and clean the debris out of
them. Keep them cleaned out and the lubricator full of oil and the system will
be trouble free. Hope this helps.

I'm getting white rust in my air door system and have to take my solenoids
apart and clean the bits of rust out . I checked the archives and it
mentioned this is usually because of using antifreeze in the system I have
never used antifreeze I use ATF for lubrication. I am installing a water
separator after the holding tank .Any one have any other ideas to stop this
from occurring It's a pain and I suspect it is probably doing damage to my
door cylinders as well.
