Looks like it should be a warm, sunny weekend coming up, not as cool and damp
as last saturday. So leave the coffee shop about 10 am saturday, zip out
along the freeway to Wendover. Wander down to the "Historic Airfield" as the
new sign in Wendover calls it and check out the IVR races. We are planning
to have the usual Touring class stuff, which is where folks with minimal
preperation can zip around the track and get some hot laps in. Various
vehicles from rental econoboxes to Cobra replicas and hillclimb specials
and what not. Convertibles like our Little British Cars would need a
rollbar to run, in case you've been wondering.

What I've been trying to prepare for is the road racing, though. Saturday
afternoon, maybe noon, or 1 or so, we'll be having a two hour enduro.
Normally the wheel to wheel races are 20 minutes in duration, this will be
six times longer, and twice as long as the one hour enduro we ran last
season. It could be interesting. Last year I had a red racing Spit take
the green flag at the start of the enduro, and an hour later take the checker.
I won't go into detail about the 35 minutes I spent working in the pits
between the two flags. I did manage a 4th place overall, which sounds good
until you find out we only had 5 drivers in the field.

Gee, two weekends ago I ran the red Spit at an SCCA autocross out at Wendover
and it didn't even make two runs, thanks to a loose nut on the throttle
linkage. And I think I can run for two hours? Hmmm...

Anyway, it might be a good way to spend a saturday. Drive out, check out the
racing, and you could be back in time for dinner and dancing at the Living
Traditions festival in downtown Salt Lake. And if you show up in Wendover
I promise I won't ask you to man a stopwatch or count laps or anything like
that, unless you really want to, of course.
