Tim, very well said. Yesterday was an event we'll remember for a long time
;-)

I also agree that having Chris and Pilar chairing was a blessing, given all
the snafus we experienced...

Looking forward to round #2,
Mike Wood

Most event chairs and drivers show up for their event and everything runs as
smooth as silk. The weather is perfect and all the chiefs and their crews
perform in flawless fashion. All systems in effect are tried and proven and
the
day flows like beer at a Super Bowl game. Ever one drives their best and no
one drives with the sun in their face, In fact, everyone drives with the sun
out! The course is perfect and not a handful of gravel can be found anywhere.
Well, this year's first event did not quite go that way. It had a few bumps
and I don't think we could have had a more experienced, calm, and level
headed event chair team as Chris Cox and Pilar Miranda. We should be thankful.

We owe them, our computer guru Robin Yang, and all the other volunteers and
ourselves a boat load of thanks for all the patience and understanding that
became the standard of the day, and night for that matter. Anything that could
throw out a challenge did so and I have to admit that I always thought
nightime autocrossing was a solution to extreme temps in desert regions.
People
may have become impatient, but maintained in the spirit of what this sport is
all about.

I'm sure a number of changes will occur in the future, resulting from the
challenges that reared their heads today. Also, a number of procedures, like
registration, will improve naturally as all the necessary information is
gathered. Inevitably, the events will run smoother than ever before and
everyone
will be happy that they participate in our club and that we do things in the
way that we do.

The next event will be on Febuary 19th and will be chaired by Jeremy Rine
and Craig Wright. I suspect that one or two bumps may still exist, however, it
should be a smoother ride. Please respond to their call for setup workers.

Warm weather and clear skies are predicted.

Thanks,

Tim
