Anyone know why both these homebuilt cars are using Porsche

pseudo-transaxles?

The Vette transaxle would place the trans between the engine and the rear
differential, the Porsche drives past/through the axle returning power forward
to the trans. That allows the engine to be placed 8-9 inches further to the
rear, allowing leg room with a reasonable wheelbase. With the available
adapters it is pretty easy to swap in a G50, either a 5 or 6 speed version,
although most of them require the transaxle to be flipped upside down. I think
the
shifter set-up might be easier too. - Seth Emerson
