We had a great event yesterday at Marina. We had a low turn out (a little
over 100), but that meant the people who did show up had lots of seat time.
Everyone had 5 official runs and 5 fun runs. That's 3$ a lap for you bean
counters. And what nice laps they were. Ben outdid himself with another
great course design and we had beautiful autox weather all day long.
We got started on time thanks to the awesome setup workers. We went to 4
run groups instead of 8 because of the low turn-out and manage to get the
morning groups and their fun runs done by 12:00. We were packed up and out
of the site by 4:30.
The event went very smoothly and I'd like to thank the people who were
responsible for that. The early setup crew, Arnold Escano, Chris Warner,
Jeremy Rine, Matt Drance, Helen Brendage, Jim Murray, Alexander Komlik, Don
Ebaugh, Mike Hsu and Ben Martinez were awesome. Even after combining the
groups, we were short on course workers and lots of people volunteered and
got things moving all day long. Jeremy, Ben, Mike Hsu, and Cameron worked
multiple shifts. Steve Kupper did his usual great job at registration.
Last but not least, I'd like to thank my lovely and talented co-chair Doris
Fong. This was Doris' first crack at chairing an event, but you sure could
not tell by the way she was running the event. Forgive me if I forgot
anybody.
It was great to see our old friend Durk Edwards back in action again!
