There seems to have been a large improvement in R tires in the
past year.  Kumho vaulted beyond the performance level of the Hoosier
DOT Radials, and now Hoosier is playing catch-up.  I think you are in
for a treat.  And adding almost 50% more power to an Elan can't be bad
either (how much do you have now, 15HP? ;)
There's an A Prepared class RX-7 in SoCal that runs on V710s because
the owner thinks that they are faster than slicks on the local
surfaces down there.

High-power cars seem to be the ideal application for the V710.  You
need to figure out why they're not working for you!
