To avoid confusion, I want to let everyone know that there are at
least two sets of rules that go by "ST2".
The first is the set of rules developed on the Street-touring-2 Yahoo
mailing list. These are the rules that SFR adopted last night (not
that I was there!). They have been officially adopted by several
other regions, as Barry announced about a month ago.
The second is the set of rules handed down by the SEB in the message
that Barry quoted. There wasn't even a hint that it was coming, or
that the SEB would even entertain such a class. There was no call for
member input (editorial comment: "obviously!"). STU was also unveiled
in that announcement. It seemed from Barry's comments that the
message arrived after the steering committee meeting, so I don't think
any of the committee members knew about it last night.
The provisional national rules for STU could be adopted. I
suppose that the provisional national rules for ST2 could be adopted
as well, but we would have to decide to replace the ST2-list rules
with the SEB rules, or come up with a different name for one of the
classes. I think that the ST2-list rules would make for a more
interesting and better subscribed class.
