You didn't lose tire, you gained rocks. :) The stickier the tire, the more
rocks. Even the trip from the grid to the start line tires picked up gravel.
With the standing start, the rear tires cleaned off pretty quickly, but the
rocks stayed on until the first right-hander...you could see folks plowing
through that because front grip was minimal.
