I hate to state the obvious but, to those of us from Northern California,
Gilroy is not on the west coast.
Notwithstanding that, 1000'X500' of flat, unobstructed, semi-permeable, well
drained, non or low clay content land, without neighbors would be a good
start. More is better. (without salamanders, owls, or brightly colored
snakes is even better)
