Sealed battery - does it need box

I looked through the 99' rule book and can't find details on Battery
relocation.

If the battery is a fully sealed unit (Optima - gel cell) is it a
requirement to have it installed in a Marine Box if it is relocated to the
Trunk?  What about Battery switch? (I may install one anyway for safety
reasons - but still curious)
