I believe the Wankle produces quite a lot of power for it's
size. Remember it only displaces 1.3 litres. And in production
form on the last RX7 it produced 255 H.P. quite a lot of H.P. for
an engine of that size.

The 2 rotor wankle get 6 power pulses per revolution, No dead
cycles. A V8 gets 4 per one revolution of the crankshaft.
Remember it is a 4 cycle engine. The first time the piston goes
down it is on the intake stroke. That is why the camshaft turns
at half speed of the crankshaft. The wankle has no valves to
float at high R.P.M.

The engine is small & compact. And sits low in the vehicle
giving a low center of weight.

Mazda won Lemans with a 4 rotor engine. I guess they rubbed
it in by using an all Japanese team including drivers. The following
year the FIA banned 4 rotor engines.

Can you imagine what H.P. a 5 litre 4 rotor engine would produce.
Anyway that's it.
