That's true, but it was a road racing tech not solo. The panels are what
support the rollcage. Tech inspector was afraid that if I ever went on my
head, the roll cage would punch through the Swiss-cheesed floor (It's had at
least four rollbars in it, no two of which bolted to the same holes). When I
looked at it through his eyes, I agreed.

Result -- bunch of extra weight for those new panels, feet for the cage. I
don't want a drop in my weight. I can't get down to what is legal now! Not
even close.

BTW, with mandates for rollcage, and then an 8-point system, GCR has also
RAISED my weight for road racing. Not so in Solo. As a result, road racing I
am now about 35 pounds overweight, weighed with driver, but for solo I am
more like 140 over weighed without driver. (and if I could get the driver
down to about the 180 pounds that is basically allotted, I'd be right on
target for GCR but still 100+ over for solo).

Along the same vein, the Miata that placed fifth was Pratt Cole's E
Production race car (Mine's a G Production -- what are we doing in the same
solo class?) that ran at its race weight, so he was about 200 heavy for
solo. The Whitney car that won is prepped purely to the solo rulebook. Don't
need no steenkin' 8-point rollcage. It also is not limited by GCR's Miata
prep rules (as Cole's is), but can go to the limit of the Solo Prep. IOW, he
can build a car that, if the class still existed, would likely be a C or D
Production racer.
