My first take on this article is that the author is a moron.

"That's right, Saturn, which began life as a plain vanilla car for people
who don't like cars but want to be treated well at the dealership."

I happen to think that my 1992 SL2 is a damn fine sports sedan. This car
was actually more enthusiast-friendly in the first two years (1991 and 1992)
than it was later. Header on the engine, stiffer suspension than later
cars. I refuse to accept that these early SL@ cars, let alone the coupes,
were made for people who don't like cars. I like cars. I like sports cars.
This Saturn is damn fine daily driver. My buddy who runs an Audi TT agrees.

Don't like cars, eh? Yeah, I hate cars so much I went to two marque
conventions this year and trophied in the autocross at both of them.

This guy seems about as car-smart as Jim Mateja.
