The new No. 3. Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. was the first
import company to capture 10 percent of the U.S. market - 10.1
percent, to be exact. The Toyota and Lexus brands both had record
sales. Toyota passed Dodge to finish in third place, another
import-brand first.
