It might seem funny to suggest toxic materials but do we really want to do that to our environment? Bamboo is VERRRRRRY hard to get rid of! to get rid of it you should physically remove the roots... Chop it, burn it, then dig it up! refill with a new base for the driveway. If the area isn't too large it shouldn't be too costly. BTW even salt should be considered toxic to the environment.
