I just happened to be in a shop this week when a woman brought in her Supra.
Wal-Mart had broken two studs. Apparently, she had a rotate and balance
service agreement with them, so Wal-Mart had also done the previous tire
changes. Guess what? On the previous tire change, someone cross-threaded her
lugs. Next time they went to take them off, they broke the studs. Wal-Mart is
paying to have the repairs done, but it is a hassle I'd like to avoid.

So it seems that $10 per tire is the norm. I could
get my tires mounted at Sam's Club or CostCo for
$8 per tire, but I'm not sure I trust them with my
alloy wheels. Some shops have gouged my previous rims
pretty badly.
