I agree that the Boxter S should go anywhere the RX7 goes. It is basically a
mid-engine RX7. 230Hp to rear wheels...Beth's RX7 and Andy Bettencourt's
were getting about 229Hp to rear wheels. 90 lbs. heavier, but larger wheels.
The big advantage for cold weather running and first run, is that it has
built in tire warmers. You basically leave it running in grid and the front
tires are warmed by the 2 front radiators, and the rear tires by the rear
exhaust manifolds. Rob showed me this at Meridian, as it was cold and I was
using my tire covers to hold in as much heat as I could between runs, and his
tires were significantly warmer without covers, with dry patches all around 4
corners of the car during the damp and cold Sunday, AM. I still think the
RX7 and Boxter is a good heads up battle, but I am a little worried when he
puts on the $4500 external reservoir JRZ's. Time will tell, and then there
is the Z06 unknown.
