For a car? According to 00 GCR page 126, 17.22.1.A "5 gallon minimum
capacity (by weight)." It goes into a lot of other detail, too. That's
for all cars except Showroom Stock, Touring and Improved Touring.
For those three groups, go to next page 127 17.22.2.A "two (2) pound
minimum capacity weight."
For race course corner stations, the requirement is heavier. On pg. GCR
27, 3.15.2.3."One dry chemical type fire extinguisher of at least
20-pound size although (2) two 10-pound extinguishers are recommended."
