In reference to everyone talking about moving Nationals to Texas Motor
Speedway, has anyone thought about keeping it closer to Topeka at a site that
is just a large. The Kansas Speedway will be open and running events for the
2001 season. Kansas City Region has been in constant contact with the powers
that be for using the facility for Regional Solo's. We have been told that
it will happen, but they want to wait till 2002 before they permit us to use
the site. Something about letting the asphalt cure before allowing heavy
usage.
Nationals has signed on with Forbes Field in Topeka for a couple more years.
By the time that contract has expired, would it be possibly to consider
Kansas Speedway as a Nationals site? It would still be centrally located,
there are several new hotels that are going up near the track. Kansas City
is less than 30 minutes away, with Kansas City having lots of establishments
that have a wide variety of beer.
Just something else to think about.
