Put him in SS!

Yeah, everyone is going to yell rulebook at me that wants it to go to Prep
or Mod. But likely we are talking about a fellow running a streetable kit
car at a local autocross. *IF* it is a streetable car, on street rubber,
with all the interior, etc., run him SS. Or else your street tire class for
cars not legal for ST.

Why? Because the car classifications in the Solo II rules are NOT mandatory
until you reach at least the Divisional level. The point here is to give
someone a place to run at a local event without making him think he has to
have a full-race setup. He is just getting his feet wet. Let him do it in
the wading pool, don't throw him in the middle of the ocean. BUT, tell him
at the same time that should he aspire to higher levels, the car would
likely then go in whatever P or M class.

We did that with a local Ferrari kit car (Chevy engine!) a few years back.
He eventually took it to a Divisional in EM, but ran here in SS and was not
an overdog. Not even close. When the event is just a local thing, replace
rigid rulebook regimens with a little common sense. Put him where he will
have fun.
