flat repair

I had one old BFG R1 that needed a nail removed and patched but my local
NTB said they wouldn't do it because it was a speed rated tire.  I think 
I've heard this from other folks locally but I already have at least one
other race tire on the car that has had a patch in it for years with no
problems.  I'll prolly just go  to a different tire shop and get it
fixed.  anyone else get this kinda runaround from NTB or other major
chain?
