That's odd...you presumably mean to slip the spacer
over the piston rod?  I just dug up the instructions
and they show the spacer mounted on top, between the
upper strut bushing and lockwasher.  I see what you're
talking about but there is no air path for pressure to
escape here.  I shouldn't be surprised...Koni's
instructions are fundamentally useless anyway.

One little detail I noted in the instructions on shock
adjustment was this:  "ATTENTION:  Shock absorbers may
never be fully adjusted."  (in better English, full
stiff)  !?  I wonder how many Konis have been worn out
by owners ignoring *that* little tidbit...guess I'll
back 'em off a bit.
