Whatcha got??? I've tried one or two things on a front wheel drive stock
car...

Or how about this:

Have you done an event where there are 2 groups, with three runs split up
like group A 2 runs, group B 2 runs, group A one run, group B one run? You
can always expect me to smoke-and-choke on the last run when this happens.
Some others don't blow it, but it seems like half the field shoots
themselves in the foot trying too hard when there's just one run to get it
done. I am almost peeved enough to start boycotting any club that does
this more than once a season, I think its a waste of time to change heats
instead of just running the last run. Just run two heats of three (or
four!) runs and get it over, this way the third run comes when the course
and your mistakes are fresh in your mind, and you can still dial it back
just a touch (my most common adjustment). Less temptation to
smoke-and-choke, and fewer excuses that way.

I know I should (eventually) learn enough discipline to be in the cool half,
but I'm really tired of being so predictably frustrated.
