Gee, I was hoping an XR4ti expert would have answered before this, but here
goes:
Both use the same Ford 2.3L engine, but the SVO's has an intercooler which
rated it 30-40 horsepower higher.
The SVO also came with 4-wheel disk brakes, which I don't believe the XR4ti had.
