This is my opinion on the news that the Toyota Celica ST and the Mazda MX-6
4cyl are moving to another class. Allright! But, I really don't care if
they are moved to that class or not. It seems to me that the whole idea of
the stock class has been totally lost on people at the Nationals level. Solo
II was set up for those that didn't have an inheritance to throw away or have
the extra thousand of dollars to spend in a stock class car. I was in HS in
the 97 and 98 Nationals in a 82 Datsun 200SX, yes the car may have been ugly
and not as pretty as all the others but, Hey, it was a blast to drive. I
took 16th out of 20 last year and would have done better if the transmission
wouldn't have broke on my first run on the second day. BUT, I had fun. That
is what the name of the game is supposed to be about. I also have an ES
Toyota Corolla FX-16 GTS. This car is being proposed to HS for next year.
This is my first year in driving it and I don't know how it will do. But, I
spend what little money I have to just be able to buy a set of tires.

We could always add another class to the mix. Stock classes that you have
spent less than $1000 on and then Stock classes that have more than $1000
spent on the cars. But, all this is from a regular Joe that has been
autocrossing since 94.

If any of you have May 16th free and would like to travel to a site that is
going to be huge, the Crown Autocross Club is hosting a charity autocross at
the Kansas City Royals Stadiums. The course will be the size of, or larger
than a Nationals course. It will be big enough that we will have three cars
at a time on course. The course is being designed by National Champion Bert
Swift (CMod) and Terry Nicoll (EMod).

Enough from me. Paul Poore Secretary for the Crown Autocross Club.
